Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean that Open Range Physical Therapy is a mobile physical therapy practice?
Will my physical therapist really come to my home so that I don't have to hassle with driving to and from my physical therapy appointments?
Open Range Physical Therapy provides the same services as an outpatient physical therapy clinic but in the comfort of your own home in the greater Wichita area.
With mobile physical therapy, you receive expert care from your physical therapist with:

-
No drive time to and from appointments
-
No waiting rooms
-
No need to find childcare for young children
-
Minimal time away from work or other responsibilities
-
Dedicated one-on-one time with your physical therapist so that you get the absolute most out of each visit
-
Learning how to do exercises or modify activities in your own environment to help you get better faster
When my physical therapist comes to my home to provide treatment, what area of my home will work well for that and how much space will we need?
Any general area of your home such as your living room, family room, or basement rec room will work well. Your physical therapist will bring a portable treatment table and all needed equipment with them.
Can you provide physical therapy for my child or teen at home in the Wichita area?
Yes! If your child or teen is dealing with an orthopedic injury or pain we can come to your home to provide treatment.
Parents love the valuable time that this saves them that they would otherwise spend taking their child to and from therapy appointments and that we can show your child exercises and activities they can easily do at home to help improve their condition.
Heading 2
What injuries, body parts, and conditions are treated at Open Range Physical Therapy?
We successfully treat the vast majority of pain/injuries of the muscles, joints, and nerves throughout the body.

Our physical therapy success stories include patients dealing with everything from headaches and neck pain to plantar fasciitis and ankle sprains; from knee, hip and low back pain to rotator cuff tears and tennis elbow. We also help many patients improve their safety and confidence when dealing with balance or mobility issues.

We also excel at helping endurance athletes and cyclists identify underlying issues that can contribute to overuse injuries so that they can recover and decrease their chances of re-injury.

Chances are that if your pain/limitation is due to a muscle, joint, or nerve, and doesn’t require surgery, we can help (and we’ve had plenty of patients who were told they needed surgery but their pain was resolved with our treatments).

Do I need a referral from my doctor to start physical therapy treatment?
A prescription or referral for physical therapy is not required for you to be seen in our practice; you can contact us to make an appointment right now.
Having quick or immediate access to your physical therapist can often be the difference between your condition being acute and temporary or becoming chronic.
We encourage you to call us immediately if you experience an injury, have a problem you want us to help you solve, an upcoming activity your concerned you won't be able to do or...
you have decided you no longer want to deal with the pain or are tired of waiting for it to finally go away.
What can I expect during my appointment?
Every one of our patients is treated as a unique individual. We address your whole body, not just the part that hurts or is injured. Our goal is to understand exactly what is going on, the root cause of the problem and why it's important to you for us to help you solve the issue. You will be prescribed a specific treatment plan which is designed to address the problems responsible for your pain and symptoms and help you return to an active life as soon as possible.
Physical Therapy is not a "quick fix" and you should expect to put in some work, however many people do feel relief within their 1st few visits. Most people experience a change or significant difference within 3 to 5 treatments. We typically have work to do even once your pain and symptoms have subsided because our goal is to help you become stronger and more resilient to this ever happening again.
Every patient is taught how to treat themselves at home using self-treatment techniques, activity modification strategies and corrective exercise so that you can make good progress on your own between physical therapy appointments. We also put a strong emphasis on patient education because we want you to throughly understand your condition, what likely contributing to it developing in the first place, and what you can do to stay better moving forward.
